What Does Black Water Tank For Sprinter Van Do?
If you search for water tanks for your sprinter van, you will know that there have three types of water tanks, and each one has a specific purpose. The black water tank for the Sprinter van is one of three water tanks that you find in the sprinter van.
What is a Black Water Tank?
The black water tank collects the human waste from the
toilet. It is located under the sprinter van carriage, installed next to the
gray water tank. The black water tank contains biodegradable enzymatic, solid,
liquid waste, and septic safe toilet paper. Some people don’t throw used toilet
paper in the black water tank. Many folks choose black water for campground
lavatory and other facilities. The primary function of the black water tank is
to hold waste.
How to Clean the Black
Water Tank?
1.
Wear
all protective gears
Before starting the cleaning process, wear gloves and
protected glasses. If possible, you can also wear shoe covers and a face mask. Then,
have soap and clean water to clean up the area after the job is done.
2.
Empty
the tank
After wearing all protective gears, the first step is to
empty the black water tank carefully. It is recommended to empty the tank
before it gets filled. The excess waste can damage the tank and cause leakage
issues. If the tank is filled fully, don’t add water into it to liquefy the
waste.
Ensure the tank is 2/3rds full. Emptying the tank too often
is not a good idea as it has to leave solid waste behind. When the tank is complete,
it gets easier to empty the trash. After adding water to the tank, park it next
to the sewer outlet, which you find at the campsite and damping station. Now
hook your sewer hose up to your sprinter van and then to the dump station
inlet. Once the hoses are hooked up, close the black water tank and gray water
tank properly. Then fill the gray water tank with water. Now open the black
tank to empty it. Once it is emptied, unplug the gray water tank and let the
water flush the sewer hose clean.
Remove the waste build-up timely
Removing the waste from the black water tank is something you must do once a week. If you do not empty it, it can cause blockage, bad odors, and other problems. Hence, ensure the sprinter van water tank is cleaned before leaving for a van life.
